We provide New Hampshire 4-H programs with the financial resources that enable youth to reach their fullest potential.

Since 1958, the 4-H Foundation of New Hampshire has been primarily responsible for private resource development for the 4-H Youth Development program of UNH Cooperative Extension.

The Foundation raises funds through activities like an annual golf tournament, an ice cream booth at the NH Farm and Forest Expo, participation in events such as The 603 Challenge, and annual appeals.

The funds are stewarded in an overall general fund as well as funds specific for various project work such as equine and dairy or camp scholarships and leadership development for club members.

FARMO is a game designed to encourage our younger guests to visit a variety of the booths and to learn something about agriculture along the way.  To begin, students are given an agriculture activity book which includes a playing card and a list of questions or clues.  They need to match the correct question or clue to a vendor booth.  Then they take their game card to the booth and answer the question.  If they are right, they receive a sticker on their card.  When they are done for the day, they bring their card back to the FARMO booth and receive a prize based on the number of stickers they received.  T-shirts, foam antlers or something from the prize box (pencils, stickers, lanyards, etc.) are the possibilities.

Recipe for Success is a free 8 week Culinary Job Training Program designed to kickstart a career in the food service industry for just about any adult who is unemployed or under-employed and needs to obtain better skill sets to help them achieve self sufficiency. The NH Food Bank, a program of Catholic Charities New Hampshire is the only Food Bank in NH, and provides food and resources to over 400 registered Non-Profit agencies around the state.

Since 1915, the University of New Hampshire Cooperative Extension (UNH Extension) has improved people’s lives by providing research-based information and non-formal education programs on topics important to the state.

Through partnerships with county governments, UNH Extension offices staffed by specialists, educators, support personnel and volunteers are located in each of the state’s 10 counties.

UNH Extension works in four broad topic areas: Youth and Family Development, Community and Economic Development, Natural Resources and Food and Agriculture.

By working in collaboration with county, state and federal governments, UNH Extension is at work in every New Hampshire county, making the state’s key industries stronger, developing vibrant communities and municipal leaders, fostering healthy families and an informed and engaged citizenry, and keeping the state’s natural resources healthy and productive.

The organizational structure of the Farm Service Agency is laid out by Congress and overseen by the Secretary of Agriculture. The FSA administrator reports to an undersecretary of agriculture for Farm Production and Conservation (FPAC).

The national farm program and farm loan program development and oversight functions are managed in Washington, D.C. Computational and statistical work is done in Kansas City. Implementation of farm policy through FSA programs is the responsibility of state and field offices based in counties and U.S. territories.

NRCS is the conservation wing of the U.S. Department of Agriculture and focuses on assisting farm and forest landowners in identifying and addresses conservation concerns on their operations. We provide free technical assistance to farmers and forest landowners to help in preventing soil erosion, providing and enhancing clean water and air, and to ensure available farmland for future generations. NRCS also provides financial assistance, cost-share programs to assist producers in implementing practices that not only assist in resource conservation, but increase their efficiency of farm and forest operations.

The Wildlife Heritage Foundation of NH is the non-profit partner of NH Fish and Game.  We award grants to NH Fish and Game’s under-funded and un-funded projects and programs as well as to NH Fish and Game partner organizations with the goal to protect New Hampshire’s outdoor traditions.  Some of the projects and programs we have provided funding for include the NHF&G Conservation Canine Unit, dive team equipment, wildlife and fisheries research and projects as well as educational progams and publications.  Our Forever Locked public education program features a display of two bull moose that were locked in battle.  Our goal is to reach children and families to enjoy spending time in the outdoors and understanding conservation of New Hampshires land and wildlife.
